HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) said: “After 53 years from the establishment of the first public library in Dubai on Dubai Creek area during the time of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, late Ruler of Dubai, today this area witnesses the launch of an international and innovative public library by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. HH Sheikh Mohammed is always keen to launch humanitarian, social, charitable, scientific and cultural projects and initiatives due to his belief in the importance of knowledge in establishing the nations, as HH Sheikh Mohammed says “The human mind is the centre of development and the book is the tool used to renew the mind. A nation can never grow without a renewed mind and a lively, knowledgeable spirit.”

Bin Shafar elaborated: “It is no wonder to choose the Dubai Creek area to establish the first public library in Dubai more than 50 years ago as well as the largest Arabic knowledge-based project of our times, as the spot serves as a knowledge oasis and a cultural hub, hosting a multitude of cultural landmarks in it.

“The Mohammed bin Rashid Library contributes to upbringing a generation who is passionate about reading, knowledge, science, and culture. This library will contribute to strengthening the cultural and scientific development in the UAE, which is always determined to be a capital of culture and a venue for multi-civilizations, as well as an oasis of knowledge and scientific research regionally and globally,” said Bin Shafar.
