Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) has been officially recognised for two of its high calibre super structures by the 2016 MEED Quality Awards for project design and development.

Among seven other Qatari project winners, Qatar Foundation was awarded, ‘Residential Project of the Year’ for its male and female student housing, while ‘Building Project of the Year’ was clinched by the new QF Headquarters.

Participants were evaluated by an esteemed judging panel who assessed entries on excellence in design, construction, and engineering, as well as accomplishments in sustainability and contributions to the local economy.

Engineer Jassim Telefat, Executive Director of Qatar Foundation Capital Projects, commented on the awards, saying:  “We are honoured to once again be recognised by the annual MEED Quality Awards. Qatar Foundation’s repeated inclusion demonstrates our commitment to achieving excellence in innovation and sustainability, as well as our dedication to continuous growth and development in order to successfully serve the needs of Qatar. At Qatar Foundation we believe in the importance of inspiring infrastructure in the process of unlocking human potential, which helps to foster an engaged society.”

Last year, Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS), a college of Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and member of Qatar Foundation, won the award for the ‘MEED Quality Project of the Year’, as well as the ‘UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Social Infrastructure Project of the Year’. Additionally, the Energy Management System (Solar Micro Grid Project), developed by QF in cooperation with Green Gulf Inc., was recognised as a national winner under the category of ‘Ramboll Sustainable Project of the Year’.

MEED, an organisation which recognises the finest projects in the GCC region, will host an official ceremony for award winners on 25th May at the MEED Construction Leadership Summit in Dubai. The awards aim to raise GCC project standards through benchmarking best practices in project planning and delivery, with participants competing against projects, developers, designers, and contractors from all around the region.
