PepsiCo-Jordan sponsors 20th International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon for 7th consecutive year
PepsiCo-Jordan sponsored the 20th International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon (DSUM). Organized by the Neurological Society (NS), the Marathon was launched under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Firas Bin Raed and was held in partnership with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM). The 20th International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon drew the participation of over 8,000 runners representing 52 different nationalities. The Marathon’s full proceeds were donated to the Neurological Society.
As part of its sponsorship, PepsiCo-Jordan distributed amongst participating runners its Aquafina bottled water as the Marathon’s official and exclusive source of pure drinking water. PepsiCo-Jordan also set up a number of water stations along the 52km race route to the ‘Lowest Point on Earth’.
“Sponsoring this internationally recognized fundraising event for the seventh consecutive year is in line with PepsiCo-Jordan’s ongoing efforts to support and encourage sporting events across the Kingdom and promote a healthy lifestyle amongst Jordanians,” commented PepsiCo-Jordan Human Resources HR Director Hawar Hijazi. “I would like to commend the Neurological Society for its unwavering efforts to provide patients with financial help for necessary surgical procedures, and to increase awareness on neurological diseases.”
Following the conclusion of the Marathon, an honorary ceremony was held at the Movenpick Hotel and Resort in Dead Sea. During the ceremony, H.R.H. Prince Raad Bin Zeid presented Hijazi with a plaque in recognition of PepsiCo-Jordan’s ongoing efforts to support the International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon.

Pepsi Cola International
In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.
For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
