Ooredoo Inspires Omani Youth with Outward Bound Oman Programme

Launched in partnership with the non-profit organisation Outward Bound Oman (OBO), Ooredoo sponsored the Next Generation Course to provide 11 Omani youths with essential skills training on Jebel Akhdar. Participants were taken out of their comfort zone by two OBO specialists, gaining important health, safety, navigation and environmental knowledge in one of Oman’s most biodiverse settings. Looking to nurture personal and professional development, participants learned experiential techniques to help them acquire the confidence necessary to succeed in all aspects of life.

The course was divided into two sessions, with the first exclusive to Shababiah customers aged between 17 and 25 and the second for family and friends of Ooredoo Oman. Participants were higher graduates, trainees, prospective SME owners, working or unemployed students, who were divided into teams, with each group undergoing a specially tailored programme to meet their specific requirements.

Initiatives like the Next Generation Course are a unique opportunity for them to build and strengthen individual leadership skills through group-centric activities, collaboration, and reflection. It was a hands-on experience that really challenges individuals to sharpen the skills and thought processes they will need to achieve success professionally and beyond.”

The Outward Bound philosophy has inspired youth worldwide through seven decades of experiential learning programmes which have driven the social and professional development of thousands of people. In the Sultanate, Outward Bound Oman was established by Ministerial decree and is operated by the Ministry of Social Development. They work with 2,000 young Omanis every year, with numbers expected to rise this year.
