Ooredoo Expands Save & Sustain Programme to Advance Youth Environmental Education in Oman

Ooredoo has brought more than 75 students from Muscat government schools into real-world sustainability environments through its Save & Sustain Green Ambassador Programme. The programme included educational visits to Muscat International Airport and the Oman Oil Green Station.

Launched in September 2025 through a Memorandum of Understanding with EFP Oman, the one-year programme is endorsed by the Ministry of Education. It promotes environmental education and responsible recycling practices while supporting Oman’s Net Zero ambitions and is already implemented across three public schools in Muscat. Through partnerships with leading national organisations, Ooredoo is connecting students with the industries shaping Oman’s sustainability journey.

Jaffar Al-Khaburi, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo Oman, said: “This program encourages the youth to see how sustainability is practiced across key sectors in Oman and recognise the role they can play in shaping its future. As a company that connects people, ideas and communities, Ooredoo believes technology and education together can empower the next generation to think creatively and responsibly about the environment and Oman’s long-term sustainability ambitions.”

During a visit to Muscat International Airport, operated by Oman Airports, 26 participants from a government boys’ school, including 20 Student Green Ambassadors, received a comprehensive Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) briefing. Students were given a behind-the-scenes look at the airport’s environmental management systems. They explored waste management, recycling and resource efficiency practices implemented across the facility. The visit also included engagement with the Airport Fire and Rescue team.
