Ooredoo E-Sport Cup 2026 Continues to Unfold in Oman as Three New Champions Emerge in Sohar

The Ooredoo E-Sport Cup 2026 began in Nizwa last March, where players stepped out into the spotlight. The competition has now reached Sohar, revealing a new set of young champions emerging from the city, as Ooredoo invests in youth talent by building a national platform for competitive gaming.

During the Sohar round, team Nova in Call of Duty Black Ops 7, Vamos in Valorant and Coin Flip in League of Legends, were crowned regional winners, following a live final attended by fans and spectators.

Sohar is known for its role as one of Oman’s key industrial and port cities, yet beneath that identity is a digitally connected generation that has been building presence through a growing gaming community, one shaped largely at home.

On 24 April, that side of the city came into focus as Ooredoo hosted the on-ground final, bringing local talent into a competitive arena. With six finalist teams now confirmed from Sohar and Nizwa, and the remaining teams to be decided in Muscat, a national picture is beginning to take shape. Across all three titles, the level of competition reflects a steadily growing pool of e-sports talent in Oman.

Each Sohar winner now advances to the Grand Final in Muscat from 21-23 May 2026. They were awarded OMR 500 and a one-year Ooredoo Home Broadband subscription, extending the same high-performance connectivity from the tournament environment into the home, where preparation continues.

Reflecting on the progress of the tournament, Jaffar Khamis Al Khaburi, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo Oman, commented:

“What we are seeing now is the result of creating a platform for young Omani gamers. Players are stepping forward with the unique skill, discipline and competitiveness that reflect how far the gaming ecosystem in Oman has already developed. The matches in Sohar also reinforced that competitive gaming depends on consistency. By ensuring fast, stable connections with minimal disruption across cities, we are equipping players to compete on equal footing, regardless of location.”
