The company, following thorough analysis of customer feedback, has maintained a secure consent portal fully monitored by its cyber security experts to protect users from fraudsters and scams.

Most of the companies who provide these services have monetised the content due to its popularity, offering more and more over the years. Our role with these value-added services is to act as a strategic partner with official content providers entering into agreements that allow our customers to subscribe to or purchase their content. While these content partners depend on digital ad networks, such as Google and Facebook for promoting their content online, Internet services are subject to vulnerabilities, which is why our cyber security team has worked hard to keep our customers safe.”

He added, “We listened to what our customers were telling us and took the additional step to prevent any issues by introducing a consent gateway page, fully managed by us. Instead of digital ad networks or content partners managing the whole activation process, the consent gateway was introduced as the last step where we would ensure all full details of subscriptions and consents are given. From March 2017, for all web access subscriptions, the confirmation page has been managed by Ooredoo and no subscription is possible without the customer clicking the confirmation button.”

Ooredoo also works with Empello, a technology service provider specialised in monitoring digital content, to oversee all online campaigns to combat fraudulent activities that might potentially target its customers. Empello’s support includes detecting any non-compliant subscriptions, daily tracking of misleading campaigns, and random scanning of all online campaigns.
