NBO Partners With Ministry Of Labour To Offer Life Skills Course To Etimad Graduates

National Bank of Oman (NBO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Labour to provide a supplementary course for graduates of the national leadership development programme, Etimad. Utilising the bank’s Academy of Excellence and in cooperation with non-profit foundation Outward Bound Oman (OMO), it’s part of a wider move to upskill and empower Omanis in the private sector. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Sayyid Salim Musallam Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development, and Abdullah bin Zahran Al Hinai, Chief Executive Officer of NBO.
His Excellency Sayyid Salim Musallam Al Busaidi said, "Our priorities include facilitating training programs that are compatible with Oman’s 2040 Vision, that meet the needs of the private sector, and build local competencies. The contribution of the private sector, represented by NBO, is highly valuable in this regard, helping us to promote dynamic capabilities and skills that enable Oman’s labour market to compete locally and globally, while keeping pace with demographic, economic, knowledge and technical changes.”
Abdullah bin Zahran Al Hinai also commented, “Enhancing integration between NBO and the government, this agreement will combine the bank’s experiences in the field of human resource development and Outward Bound Oman’s proven track record in building the capacity and employability of Oman’s youth. This is a unique opportunity for the participants to hone their leadership skills, team spirit, problem solving, decision-making and creativity, while overall contributing to achieving the comprehensive sustainable development goals of the Sultanate.”
Firmly believing in the role of the private sector in empowering young Omanis to take their place as future business leaders, NBO is part of a number of initiatives that support the government’s vision for economic development. As well as selecting staff members to participate in Etimad, it has also signed a long-term partnership with Outward Bound Oman that will see 900 young people develop their personal skills in line with the expectations of Oman’s Vision 2040.
