NBO Awarded Best CSR Bank and Best Mobile App by World Business Outlook
In acknowledgement of its commitment to the community and customers, National Bank of Oman (NBO) has been awarded Best CSR Bank 2022 and Best Mobile App 2022 at the World Business Outlook awards. The app, first launched in 2015, has frequently been enhanced and updated to meet the changing needs of customers, and in 2021 it took on a whole new level as customers were empowered to take care of all their finances conveniently at any time and anywhere. Meanwhile, the bank continues to deliver on its long-term commitment to supporting the community through its CSR efforts.
Tariq Atiq, Chief Retail and Digital Banking Officer at NBO, said, “To win such awards from such a respected figure in the global business community reinforces our vision for a customer-centric and community-focused approach. We accelerated our innovation plans to meet their needs. Our digital services have been invaluable in empowering cutomers, providing the same exceptional experience found in every NBO branch in the pocket of every customer, and showing customers that they can count on us in any situation.”
Each year, NBO has continued to evolve by introducing new contactless services, including several first-of-their-kind solutions such as the first multi-purpose banking kiosk, which enables customers to interact directly with the bank and utilize the 24/7 services. Customers were able to open new accounts, pay utility and credit card bills, apply for products and make transfers through the app, while using the scan and pay feature to pay at QR-enabled terminals nationwide. Most recently, the bank launched its new digital onboarding service, which allows customers to digitally open a new account through the NBO mobile banking app and receive their new cards in person at any kiosk or via home delivery.
Adding to a long list of initiatives focused on responding to crises, youth empowerment, social and economic development and education, NBO has donated over OMR 1.5 million in the past two years to support the Ministry of Health, as well as providing a vaccination program for staff and their spouses and a fleet of ambulances. The bank also supported the community in the aftermath of Cyclone Shaheen. Furthermore, NBO launched an e-library in partnership with the Ministry of Education to provide reading material to approximately 650,000 students and 56,385 employees nationwide, and NBO’s Scholarship programme has continued to support students from low income families..
