Recognizing excellence and innovation in the card and payments industry across the Middle East, National Bank of Oman (NBO) has received three awards from the Middle East Card and Payments Leadership Awards for its popular Badeel prepaid card. Winning the categories for Best Prepaid Card of the Year, Best Prepaid Product of the Year, and Card Innovation of the Year, the card is hailed as the first-of-its-kind banking solution in Oman, leading the way for branchless services.

Badeel prepaid cards are available to both NBO and non-NBO customers, offering a smarter, easier and safer alternative to cash. An easier way to manage spending, the cards provide users with the freedom to make purchases at millions of merchants worldwide while also being protected by state-of-the-art electronic security. Secured with 3D and Chip and Pin technologies, the card can be ordered and managed through the bank’s award-winning mobile app and can be used for day-to-day purchases, online transactions and bill payments.

“These awards are a testament of our innovative and customer-centric approach to offering the best products in the market. Available in a variety of options for use in Oman and abroad, the Badeel cards are fully customisable and allow customers to apply for up to twelve cards,” said Abdul Karim Al Hinai – Deputy General Manager - Alternative Channels - Retail Banking at NBO. “With customers increasingly opting for the convenience and security of contactless banking over face-to-face interactions, NBO is committed to remaining at the cutting edge of the technology landscape and providing a seamless banking experience fit for the future.”

The awards are added to a string of accolades the bank has received for its innovative and customer-centric banking solutions. These include most recently the Best Mobile Banking Application - Oman 2019 from International Business Magazine.
