Modhesh World, one of the most popular indoor edutainment destinations in the region, may just have a solution for children who adore animals but cannot house a pet. ‘Petting Farm’ is one of the most popular attractions at the theme park, with its rare display of over 20 exotic animals drawing both children and adults in large numbers. The Petting Farm is located in the ‘Back to Nature’ zone (Hall 5) at the Dubai World Trade Centre and features animals that are safe to interact with and represent a broad sampling of domesticated and wild animals. Creatures that crave the love of visitors at Modhesh World include: Rabbits, Hamsters, Guiney-pigs, Chickens, Ducks, McCaw, Cockatoo, Sun Conure, Parakeets, Love Birds, Goat, Sheep, Snake, Tortoise and Shetland Pony, the largest and most photographed of animals at the farm.

The attraction is designed to introduce children to the world of animals, teach compassion and ethical treatment and depart from a sedentary lifestyle in favour of a joyous experience with new furry friends. It also aims to boost emotional intelligence in a phase when children are most receptive to positive teachings and habit formation. Each stable carries an educational banner that contains interesting facts and details on unique traits of the animal. Petting Farm is managed by Al Tamimi Stables (ATS), a locally-owned attraction that offers a mobile petting farm to families and schools across Dubai.

Suhaila Saqer Obaid Ghubash, Director, Festivals and Events, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), said: “With every new season of Modhesh World, we aspire to create a vibrant hub that provides an all-round and educational experience for children. The Petting Farm is an opportunity for children and adults to reconnect with nature, appreciate its diversity and empathise with animals as their needs are an integral part of our ecosystem. While entertainment through rides, games and futuristic gadgets are important elements, Modhesh World is also a place where children are taught about timeless values in their formative years and the importance of ‘living in the moment’. These are the stepping stones towards grooming a generation that spreads happiness and positivity in a society where everyone enjoys equal respect.”

Children can enjoy caressing and feeding the Guinea Pig and also take selfies with the friendly Pony in a supervised environment. Safety is ingrained down to the details – the well-trained staff has spent substantial amount of time with each animal to be familiar with its unique personality; food and drinks from outside are strictly prohibited and a hand-sanitizer dispenser ensures that children only carry love and respect for their new friends upon leaving the farm.

Cerika Van Wyk, General Manager, Al Tamimi Stables, said: “Modhesh World is an exciting platform to tap into activities that are loved by children all over the world and present it in an indoor, safe and secure environment. We are all aware of the therapeutic benefits of interacting with animals, and this attraction helps beat the stress in the presence of loving creature and nurture a special bond – both within families and with the animal world. Interacting with animals builds self-confidence amongst children and promotes greater participation in both social and physical activities. In essence, visitors to Modhesh World do not only enjoy meaningful entertainment, but also become ambassadors of compassion and respect for the environment around us.”

Entry to Petting Farm is valued at AED 25 per head and children are accompanied by trained staff to ensure that they spend priceless and hassle-free moments at the attraction.
