Mashreq strengthens leadership team with new Head of Asset Management Business

The UAE’s leading financial institution, Mashreq, announced that Christophe Pella has been named Head of its Asset Management unit and CEO of Mashreq Capital (DIFC) Ltd. The appointment of Mr. Pella is subject to regulatory approval.

Mr. Pella arrives from London, where he most recently served as a Global Rates Portfolio Manager at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM). He has spent his entire career in investment management. Previous experience includes stints at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), AXA Investment Managers and HSBC in both London and Geneva. Mr. Pella is a CFA charterholder and holds a MBA in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Commenting on the appointment, Nabeel Waheed, Head of Treasury and Capital Markets at Mashreq said: “Christophe brings a wealth of investing experience to his new role. He is a seasoned investor and will provide strong leadership to Mashreq Capital. I look forward to working with him as we aim to maximize the value we provide to our clients.”

Mashreq Capital is a 100% owned subsidiary of Mashreq, and is registered within the DIFC.  Having grown significantly over the last few years, it currently manages four award winning funds – two each in equities and in fixed income.
