Mahmoudia Motors hosts Jaguar Land Rover MENA ‘Technician of the Year’ semi-finals in Jordan

Playing a pivotal role in what promises to become a significant annual Jaguar Land Rover occurrence, Mahmoudia Motors – the sole and official dealer of Jaguar and Land Rover cars in Jordan – hosted the semi-finals of the first-ever Jaguar Land Rover Technician of the Year Award. Held on Friday December 4, 2015, at the Mahmoudia Motors After-Sales Facility in Amman, the event represented the technicians’ final stop before competing for the regional title in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where they will be joined by both brands’ top technicians from 17 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The Technician of the Year Award programme consists of a range of technical assessments, as well as a customer service element, to demonstrate how Jaguar Land Rover technicians provide exemplary customer service beyond the mechanical fundamentals. In what will become an annual event, Jaguar Land Rover’s 19 retailers from its 17 markets across the MENA region were given the opportunity to nominate up to two technicians for the programme. From that pool, 35 Jaguar Land Rover technicians were chosen out of a total of 850 operating in the region to move on to the Award’s semi-final stage, held in Amman, Jordan; Dubai, UAE; and Casablanca, Morocco. During Amman’s semi-final event, seven select technicians from Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon were presented with a series of theoretical and practical tasks meant to challenge their skills and to test their hands-on expertise.

Following the conclusion of the Award’s semi-final events across the region, the top 12 finalists, consisting of six for each brand, are preparing to compete for the title in Dubai on 26 January, 2016, where two champions, one from Jaguar and one from Land Rover, will be named. In addition to winning the Jaguar Land Rover Technician of the Year trophy and cash prizes, the two winning technicians will go on to compete in the Global Jaguar Land Rover Technician of the Year finals, to be held in the United Kingdom next year.

As a long-term investor in its people across the MENA retailer network, Jaguar Land Rover provides a comprehensive learning and development programme, ensuring employees from all levels and designations are trained to the highest possible standard. In 2014, it launched a dedicated regional training academy in Dubai to deliver technical and non-technical training programmes to retailers and regional office staff across the MENA network. Now, with 40 retailers across 18 markets and a further 24 retailers expected by 2017/18, the academy serves as a dedicated regional training facility to enable Jaguar Land Rover to replicate the in-depth training offered by its U.K.-based academy.
