Highlights
Improving cybersecurity maturity and enabling comprehensive threat detection and response mechanisms have become key priorities for organizations in Qatar.

Improving cybersecurity maturity and enabling comprehensive threat detection and response mechanisms have become key priorities for organizations in Qatar. Indeed, a recent survey conducted by International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that 42% of Qatari organizations have already invested in threat intelligence services, while 39% have invested in threat detection and response solutions.

"Cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, governments, and sensitive data are increasing in volume and intensity," says Shilpi Handa, IDC's associate research director for security in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa. "Cybersecurity has expanded beyond technology and is now about a holistic process that includes business decisions, human beings, emerging technologies, and increasingly sophisticated adversaries. As networks evaporate and endpoints proliferate, relentless adversaries are continually adapting their attack vectors. In response, the need to ensure efficient and effective security across the entire enterprise has grown rapidly."

The Qatar edition of the IDC Security Roadshow 2022 — which takes place at the Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas on Monday, June 6 — will address these challenges and explain why it is now vital for organizations to enable visibility and control across their entire technology footprint. Hosted in-person under the theme 'Elevating the Security of the Future Enterprise', the event will explore transformative technologies, dissect the ever-growing threat landscape, and examine the increasingly sophisticated nature of cyberattacks, all while discussing other pressing challenges to the security of the future enterprise.

Handa will present the event's keynote, during which she will explain how the pursuit of digital transformation has opened up a series of new challenges, with organizations now more vulnerable to cyberattacks from hackers and other malicious actors who are now innovating their attack vectors in parallel.

"Recent research has revealed that developing security and resilience excellence — through establishing security operations and enhancing security skills and processes — is the biggest strategic investment planned by 58% of CIOs and CISOs over the coming two years," says Handa. "While striving for greater efficiency, agility, and speed is understandably a major priority, the shortage of skills required to navigate the constantly evolving cybersecurity landscape will present considerable challenges, and finding the right balance will set successful and well thought-out cybersecurity strategies apart from the rest."

The IDC Security Roadshow 2022 in Qatar will showcase insights from a range of respected industry thought leaders as they present sessions on topics such as:

  • Managing Cybersecurity Risks in a Hyperconnected World
  • Securing Modern Applications: What You Need to Know Now
  • Ransomware: Staying Ahead of the Intensifying Global Threat
  • Creating a Safer Future
  • Weathering the Cyberthreat Storm

These presentations will be supplemented by two parallel track sessions that will serve up strategic guidance on leveraging the true resilience of enterprise security and enabling a strong security posture amid today's evolving threat landscape. The event will culminate with an informative end-user panel discussion on how to implement a successful 'zero trust' strategy, featuring first-hand insights from:

  • Alastair Thompson Carse, Senior Director of Infrastructure, Ooredoo Qatar
  • Adnan Abu Alhaiha, Group Head of Risk Management, Qatar General Insurance & Reinsurance Co.

IDC's valued partners for the Qatar edition of the IDC Security Roadshow 2022 include: Platinum Partners – Trend Micro, Checkmarx, Kaspersky Lab, Google Cloud, and CrowdStrike; Gold Partners – SentinelOne, Glasshouse, Qualys, Mandiant, and Rubrik.
