Doha is gearing up towards hosting the annual and highly-awaited MEED Qatar Projects Conference for 2012 which will be held this year under the patronage of HE Mohammed Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry in Qatar and Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum.

This year’s event is expected to gather more than 600 participants. A host of distinguished government and business figures will join peers and industry leaders to discuss Qatar’s mega-projects’ pipeline among which the Qatar Railway Project, Doha New Port and Doha New Airport, among others. The program will also include an in-depth analysis and data on Qatar’s project market and up-to-date information on the business and investment environment.

George Nasra, Managing Director of IBQ said: “We’re happy to be part of the MEED Qatar Projects 2012 conference as we firmly believe that it is one of the key platforms for business dialogue which helps pave the way for interesting and significant cross-industry opportunities. Qatar is slated for a huge projects’ pipeline and will be a priority on the business agenda for many organizations.”

“This is the fourth year we participate at the conference and we look forward to the enlightening discussions which will take place during the different panel sessions. We also see this conference as an excellent networking opportunity giving participants the opportunity to meet key Qatari stakeholders, government officials, developers, clients and investors.” Nasra added.

Edmund O’Sullivan, Chairman of MEED said: “The scale of opportunities is unprecedented, and Qatar Projects 2012 will also provide exclusive insight into the country’s long-term blueprint for economic success as part of Qatar Vision 2030, with anticipated investment of up to US$100 billion. This has the potential to catapult the country to the top of the list as the world’s largest projects markets on a per capita basis.”

As part of the conference activities, IBQ will be hosting an exclusive Networking Dinner which will include the announcement of the winner of MEED’s inaugural “Qatar Projects Leadership Award”. The ceremony will showcase some of Qatar’s most innovative projects and will showcase how these projects are significantly advancing economic diversification.

In 2011, MEED Qatar Projects saw the presence of over 450 international and regional attendees and over 40 expert speakers, stakeholders and decision-makers of Qatar’s energy and non-energy sectors and this year’s edition is promising an equally noticeable level of interest and participating.
