The International Bank of Qatar (ibq), is pressing ahead with its national workforce and talent development programs. The bank recently wrapped up a tailor-made workshop, ITQAN, geared towards the Qatari personnel. ITQAN is a personal development and leadership initiative which falls strongly in line with the bank’s Qatarization efforts. The program has been running throughout the past 11 months and will continue till the end of 2012.

Eleven Qatari staff have successfully completed the workshop which was split into three phases, each phase focusing on a particular set of skills which help enhancing the positive working experience of all attendees who took part in the workshop sessions.

The first phase looked into the path to personal effectiveness and ways to further develop interpersonal relationship skills. The second phase tackled tips and techniques for effective and impactful communication for each staff to become an ambassador for delivering ibq’s unmatched standards of excellence and service quality. The third phase was based on outcomes with a comprehensive explanation of how to understand, set and measure KPIs that are result-oriented and serve the image and overall organizational strategic objectives.

Saleh Al Kawari, Head of Human Resources at ibq said: “We’re extremely pleased with the results of this year-long development initiative. This strongly demonstrates our steadfast commitment to continuously invest in our Qatari staff, particularly those who bring local talent on board. ibq believes in the significance to not only recruit the right resources but also to train and develop their capabilities to turn into the best and most

productive and competitive workforce within the industry. This stems from our understanding that success can only be triggered and driven by a highly qualified team of experts. At ibq, we were extremely happy to see the unfaltering dedication of the 11 Qatari staff who attended the program over the past months.”

ITQAN is an Arabic word that stands for competence. ibq has been delivering Qatarization programs over the past four years with the Qatari Development Program topping the agenda of the bank’straining and development initiatives.
