As part of its annual ‘Do Good Deeds’ campaign during the Holy Month of Ramadan International Bank of Qatar (ibq) hosted an Iftar banquet for elderly people affiliated with Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care (Ihsan). The bank’s team visited the elderly at Ihsan and shared Iftar with them in an atmosphere of amity and geniality.

“Our social responsibility strategy supports a wide variety of events in different fields, particularly in the Holy Month of Ramadan. Today we share our Iftar with Ihsan’s community in an effort by ibq to highlight the important role of the elderly in our society, underline our firm support of their rights and encourage them to interact with their surroundings regardless of the changes that may take place as people get older,” said Muhannad Kamal, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of ibq.

“Ihsan spares no efforts in developing its policy of integrating the elderly into society in such a manner that promotes the value of cooperation among different social institutions. We gather today to show our support for Ihsan as an institution, its programmes and activities to help it to achieve its goals,” added Muhannad Kamal.

Khalid Abdulla Hussein, Director of Public Relations & Media at Ihsan, lauded ibq’s visit and Iftar with the elderly community, noting that this gesture brought joy and happiness to Ihsan’s mothers and fathers and deeply affected them. “By hosting a special Iftar for the residents, ibq has helped the elderly to better integrate with other members in society, which serves Ihsan’s goals of providing a safe, decent life for the elderly in the county. The visit was part of the strong, successful relationship between ibq and Ihsan, and we hope that cooperation between the two institutions continue towards achieving the public good and providing better services for the elderly population,” added Hussein.

Seeking to provide a safe, stable life for the Qatar’s elderly citizens by offering them healthcare, social and psychological services, Ihsan provides home-based care and raises public awareness, especially families, about embracing the elderly, offering them guidance to adopt the best methods in this regard. Ihsan strives to develop an integrated care system that includes the home, the hospital and the nursing home and endeavours to establish the necessary facilities and legislations.

ibq’s “Do Good Deeds” campaign was launched in 2009 with a series of events in which staff members volunteer for charitable purposes. The various initiatives are planned to reach out to people from all walks of the community.
