HMC announces particpation in Qatar’s National Sports Day

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has announced its program to mark Qatar’s National Sports Day, taking place this Tuesday. The country’s leading healthcare provider is seeking to highlight the importance an active lifestyle plays in helping to prevent diseases such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes and heart-related illnesses.

Opened to HMC staff and their families, activities will begin at 9:00am near the car park at the Women’s Hospital. There will be a number of sporting activities as well as opportunities for simple health checks such as measuring height and weight, blood glucose and blood pressure. Nursing teams will also be on hand to provide health tips for participants on how to keep the glucose and blood pressure on normal levels.

Nutrition experts will educate attendees on how to avoid weight gain and obesity and will offer information on healthy eating. HMC will also provide an ambulance unit and team to educate people on CPR. The events at HMC will conclude around 3:00 pm.

Mr. Ali Al Khater, Executive Director of Corporate Communications Department at HMC, said the organization is committed to the health and wellbeing of the population of Qatar and places a specific emphasis on staff and their families. “HMC is a strong advocate of people participating in Qatar’s National Sports Day and our event includes several sports, entertaining activities and games for our staff and their families to enjoy.  We want to encourage our staff to be active and healthy so we are very pleased to host them and their loved ones at this special event today,” Al Khater said.

HMC will also participate in other activities at Aspire Park and will offer health services like measuring blood glucose and pressure in addition to nutritional tips, Al Khater added.
