Al Habtoor Group Chairman welcomes the Turkish Consul-General

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group welcomed Her Excellency Elif Çomoğlu Ülgen, Consul-General of Turkey in Dubai on Thursday, April 12. She was joined by Commercial Attaché Serdar Kumbaraci. Also present from the Al Habtoor Group were Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman and CEO, and Mohammed Al Mazrooei, Managing Director.
The meeting was the first official meeting between the Consul-General and Al Habtoor. The pair had previously met at a book signing event at Borders in the Mall of Emirates when Al Habtoor launched his best-selling autobiography, ‘Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor: The Autobiography’.
At the meeting the group discussed bilateral ties and potential business interests. Turkey and the UAE, especially Dubai, already have strong commercial, economic and cultural ties.
Al Habtoor said, “It was a pleasure to meet the Consul-General. Turkey is one of the bright spots right now and there are plenty of opportunities for collaboration between Turkey and companies in the UAE.”
Turkey has experienced rapid growth over recent years and is considered one of the rising stars of the emerging market economies right now. Recent data from Turkey shows the country’s economy expanded 2.2 per cent in 2012, and despite the wider European economic crisis, the Turkish economy is forecast to grow four per cent this year, according to the World Bank.
