Gulf International Bank (GIB), the first Arabian Gulf bank to establish operations in the United States, hosted a high-profile reception during the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group meetings in Washington D.C. as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations this year.

The VIP reception was hosted by GIB’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abdulaziz A. Al-Helaissi, on 7th October 2016 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Washington D.C.  The event was attended by distinguished guests including governors from the central banks, ministers of finance, policy makers and private sector executives.

GIB is a leading bank in the Middle East which provides client-focused, innovative financial products and services to a wide customer base in the region.  This includes corporate banking, asset management, debt and equity capital market services, financial advisory services, mergers and acquisitions, Shariah-compliant banking, and retail banking services.

Founded in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1975, the bank commenced operations in 1976. In 1980, GIB opened its offices in New York.  GIB is also one of the founding members of “Arab Bankers Association of North America” (ABANA), a leading US organisation for finance professionals and institutions with interest in the Middle East and North Africa.

Gulf International Bank B.S.C. (GIB) was established in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1975, and commenced operations in 1976. In 2017, GIB became the first foreign domiciled bank to be granted approval from the Saudi Arabia Council of Ministers to establish a local commercial bank in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Consequently, GIB's branch offices in the Kingdom will become part of the Saudi Arabian subsidiary, with the country headquarters located in Al Dhahran.
