Finalists battle it out at the 6th IBQ Communicator Awards; winners named on Saturday

The 6th edition of the IBQ Communicator Awards has come to an end with the winners Ms Arunima Bera for the International Category and Mr. Ashfaque Deshmukh for the Humorous category awarded the prestigious titles for the year. The Grand Finale held on Saturday 26 November 2011 at the Ramada Hotel and was attended by a significant number of competitors with their families and friends, and academic representatives from the top ranking universities in the country.

The other winners this year in the International Category were Mr. Koka Prasad in 2nd place and Ms Vijaya Monteiro in 3rd place. For the Humorous category, Mr Singaraju Srinivas in 2nd place and Mr. Perosia Pereira in 3rd place.

During the course of the competition, sixty of Qatar's best speakers showcased their communications skills for the International Category during the pre-qualifying rounds in October while twenty have saved no effort to win a spot amongst the top 6 contestants for the Humorous Category.

The IBQ Communicator Awards is organised by the ICC-ONE Toastmasters Club under the patronage of IBQ to encourage and promote communication and leadership skills in the local community. The Awards are open to all residents aged 18 years old and is now considered to be one of the major calendar events garnering strong local and international interest.

The ICC-ONE Toastmasters is a member of the renowned and prestigious Toastmasters International. Their objective is to organize member clubs to provide a mutual supportive learning environment where every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, and in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

The Toastmasters run regular meetings twice a month, as well as conducting various Speech craft and Youth Leadership programs in line with Toastmasters International guidelines.
