FGB donates AED 5 Million to Red Crescent’s Yemen: We Care campaign

In line with the UAE’s efforts to support humanitarian efforts in different parts of the world,FGB, one of the leading banks in the UAE, has donated AED 5 Million to the Red Crescent’s Yemen: We Care campaign. The campaign was launched by the UAE’s government to support the people of Yemen during the challenging times they are facing. FGB’s donation reflects its commitment to support the UAE’s leadership’s humanitarian initiatives.

Abdulhamid Saeed, FGB Managing Director and Board Member, commented: “As recognition of the significant sacrifices made by those brave soldiers and their families to support the people of Yemen, and in honour of their memories, FGB is waiving any financial obligations for martyrs that have lost their lives in the war. This initiative comes as part of FGB’s responsibility towards supporting the UAE’s community and its citizens.”

FGB’s donation, and our decision to waive financial obligations for martyrs, is our response to the UAE’s leadership’s call to support the Yemeni people at this difficult time and to reaffirm that the UAE, both leaders and people, are promoting peace and stability in the region. We honour the sacrifices those families have made to defend the UAE and protect the Arab world alike,” Saeed added.

FGB is fully committed to the government’s decisions and to the UAE citizens, following its belief that all local entities should support the UAE’s community and leadership in different humanitarian and developmental initiatives.

The Yemen: We Care campaign was launched on Sunday the 30th of August, 2015 as per the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the supervision of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Chairman of Emirates Red Crescent.
