Empower holds Breast Cancer Awareness Day

The Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, observed Breast Cancer Awareness Day in collaboration with Pink Caravan. The campaign focused on encouraging women to undergo early check-up for Breast Cancer.

Empower invited female employees, as well as women from partner organisations in the UAE to a series of interactive activities and workshops to highlight the seriousness of the disease. According to HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower, the campaign is line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) toward Dubai and the UAE.

We hold a responsibility to the society. We have found in the Pink Caravan efforts a way to support individuals living in Dubai. This move is in line with the employees’ happiness strategy, giving them opportunity and education to undergo the check up,” said Bin Shafar.

Around 50 female employees were screened during the full-day event, and some were trained also on how to do it at home, backed by sufficient information about the time-gap applicable between each examination. “Breast Cancer is one of the most common tumours among women, and main reason for death of many. We think that community should join hands to empower women and ensure they receive the best healthcare in communities they live in,” added Bin Shafar.

The campaign also included awareness sessions as well as a session for questions and answers, presented and supervised by specialists. Empower also distributed explanatory leaflets and organised other activities. “We have conducted many other community related campaigns over the past years, such as blood donation and support of children with thalassemia. And today we see greater responsibility to raise our contribution to the community and pay back to those who helped us achieve success,” concluded Bin Shafar.
