Emirates Post Group Launches E-Dirham Card Services

The UAE Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Emirates Post Group announced the launch of the e-Dirham card service that will enable customers to buy, load, and reload e-Dirham cards across Emirates Post offices in the UAE. The move is expected to ease and expand the use of e-Dirham which is a fully integrated electronic payment and revenue collection developed by MoF in partnership with First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB).

This service will be provided at over 118 Emirates Post offices in the country except in Das Island, Abu Dhabi.

The e-Dirham system is the official electronic payment platform that facilitates the collection of revenues and service fees of governmental and semi-governmental institutions. It is a cashless payment system that adopts efficient, secure, state-of-the-art and world-class technologies.

H.E. Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF, said: "The Ministry of Finance is commited to partnering with various entities, ministries and government authorities in the country to offer the highest standard and the most suitable services that will cater the needs of the customers. This collaboration with Emirates Post Group is a significant step to strengthen the services offered to the public and to facilitate their transactions more effectively and efficiently."

"Likewise, this boosts the collaboration between the financial service and logistics service sectors of the government, offering foremost digital solutions. This is in line with the UAE national agenda towards achieving a knowledge-based and digital economy, while keeping pace with the latest development in global payment systems", Al Khouri added.

Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Ashram Acting Chief Executive Officer of  Emirates Post Group, said: “We are keen in developing innovative logistics and financial services as well as solutions by adopting the latest administrative and technical systems within the Emirates Post Group to be of further service to our customers.”

"The e-Dirham cards available for sale are the blue card at AED 12, and the red card at AED 6. The loading service is available for all categories of e-Dirham cards, and is free of charge for the first transaction. Also, reloading is available for the blue, red, gold, green and silver e-Dirham cards with a minimum fee of AED 4 per card," Al Ashram added.

Hana Al Rostamani, Group Head of Personal Banking at FAB, said: "The launch of these services at Emirates Post offices will widen the reach of the e-Dirham system in the country. This supports the transformation to the cashless e-payment services, a matter which will make a significant positive effect on the efficiency and quality of the services offered to the clients."
