Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, today announced the winning of two coveted awards in the social media category at the 2014 Dubai Lynx Awards, walking away with the Silver for the successful implementation of its 50th anniversary logo competition, and the Bronze for developing a unique and personalised video message for the bank customers.

The awards were presented at the region’s biggest awards ceremony held recently in Dubai, which was attended by over 1800 advertising and communications professionals from the Middle East. Emirates NBD is the only bank in the Middle East to be recognised at the 2014 edition of the Dubai Lynx Awards.

Emirates NBD’s highly successful 50th Anniversary Logo Competition, which was executed on the bank’s official Facebook page, won the prestigious Silver award in the Social Media category. Designed with the objective to actively engage the resident community in the UAE, the Logo design competition attracted over 4,500 logo submissions from social media users in the UAE, while increasing the Facebook fan base by over 30,000 during the campaign.

The bank also secured a Bronze award in the social media category in recognition of creating a high impactful 'Thank You Customers' surprise video at Dubai Mall, reaching over 60,000 people in a single day. The 'Thank You' video was also uploaded on Emirates NBD's various social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube, which resulted in over 80,000 unique views.

Commenting on the award win, Vikram Krishna, Head - Group Marketing and Customer Experience, Emirates NBD, said: "Winning two prestigious awards at the Dubai Lynx is a significant achievement for Emirates NBD. This recognition for the bank is a reflection of our commitment to design and develop innovative campaigns to enhance interaction with our customers through our various social media platforms."

Reiterating the importance of social media to Emirates NBD's marketing efforts, Krishna added: "Social media remains a key focus area within the marketing function of the bank, and we continue to utilise this medium effectively through facilitation of increased interaction with our customers such as the ‘Logo Competition' and 'Thank You' campaigns. Our various social media platforms, often regarded as an industry benchmark, have been extremely successful in providing the most relevant information to customers, and at the same time resolving their queries and complaints in a timely manner. That said we are fully focused on developing campaigns that encourage enhanced engagement between the bank and the customers, whilst providing opportunities for them to win exciting prizes through online competitions and promotions."

The recognition at Dubai Lynx 2014 is the latest in a series of accolades received by Emirates NBD for its marketing efforts. The bank has won two Bronze awards at the last year's Dubai Lynx Awards.

Background Information

Emirates NBD

Emirates NBD, the leading banking group in the region, was formed on 19 June 1963, when H.H. Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum signed the Charter of Incorporation of the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) which became the first National Bank established in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With the blessings of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on 06 March 2007, to form Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the region by assets. On 16 October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). The merger between EBI and NBD to create Emirates NBD, became a regional consolidation blueprint for the banking and finance sector as it combined the second and fourth largest banks in the UAE to form a banking champion capable of delivering enhanced value across corporate, retail, private, Islamic and investment banking throughout the region.
