Emirates Islamic contributes AED 200,000 to Sheikha Jawaher’s ‘The Big Heart Foundation’ for refugee children

Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, today announced that it has contributed AED 200,000 from its Kheirat account to The Big Heart Foundation.
The Big Heart Foundation was launched in response to the global refugee crisis, with the aim of providing urgent relief and sustainable support to refugee children and their families. The Foundation was set up by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, two years after the launch of the Big Heart Campaign that helped to clothe, educate and provide shelter to thousands of children. The 2013 to 2014 Big Heart Campaign helped 106,000 Syrian refugees in Iraq with healthcare services at a cost of Dh7.3 million.
Awatif Al Harmoodi, General Manager, Operational Quality & Processes, Emirates Islamic, presented a cheque to HE Salha Ghabish, Director General of the Cultural Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
The recent contribution reflects Emirates Islamic’s continued commitment to support humanitarian causes around the world and provide assistance to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons, especially children, women and the elderly.
Commenting on the contribution, Awatif Al Harmoodi said: “The noble humanitarian cause adopted by the Cultural Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah has proven to be very effective as it continues to provide a vital means of support to our displaced brothers and helps relieve their suffering. Emirates Islamic is proud to support this humanitarian initiative, which is in line with our values and the bank’s existing initiatives to provide support for humanitarian issues across the globe.”
HE Salha Ghabish commented: “The Cultural Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah organises various annual events, the proceeds of which support humanitarian work, especially ‘The Big Heart Foundation’ launched by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. The contribution by Emirates Islamic will support humanitarian initiatives for the benefit of needy families in various Arab countries."
