Dubai Properties celebrates the Middle East’s First Hosting of FIBA U17 World Championship

Dubai Properties (DP), the development company of Dubai Properties Group (DPG) and official sponsor of the third edition of FIBA, has concluded its sponsorship of the nine day event. 

The U17 World Championship for men was won by the USA team after scoring 99-92 in a thrilling final clash against the Australian team on Saturday after a series of 56 games were held from 8 to 19 August in Hamdan Sport Complex, Dubai.

Speaking about DP’s sponsorship of the FIBA U17 World Championship, Mohammed Al Habbai, Chief Officer for Urban Planning and Infrastructure at Dubai Properties Group, said: “We are proud to align with the growth of youth basketball competitions here in Dubai. It is an honor to be part of this step in the continued development of Dubai as a global city and we look forward to seeing the event take place again in the Middle East.”

Held for the first time in the Middle East, the third edition of the FIBA U17 World Championship saw the participation of 16 countries including Angola, Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Serbia, Spain, UAE and USA.
