Dubai Customs Week events attract public attention

As part of ‘First Dubai Customs Week’ under the motto ‘ A world of Digital Innovations’; Dubai Customs Centers across Dubai held a series of lectures, workshops  and raffles addressing clients and partners alike.

Raffles and Prizes

Jebel Ali and Tecom centers held an interactive competition on the mechanisms of work at Dubai Customs and the procedures of preparing and submitting  a Customs declaration and the basic elements clients need to know to ensure fast processing of various Customs transactions. Three lucky winners went back home with valuable prizes offered by the center.

School Visits

A team from Jebel Ali and Tecom center conducted a visit to Al Etihad Private School ( Jumeirah branch), and delivered a lecture on the role of Dubai Customs in protecting society and upholding economic development.

Intellectual Property Rights

DC IPR Department organized a series of awareness workshops including the one organized at Al Khalil bin Ahmed Secondary School in Khorfakkan. The lecture was on the role Dubai Customs plays in deterring any attempts of smuggling counterfeit products. Aysha Hareb, Awareness and Education Senior Officer,  at IPR Department  delivering the lecture.

Dubai Cargo Village

Tariff and Origin Department also organized a lecture at Dubai Customs Cargo Village center on ‘Customs Warehouses’. The lecturers, Omar Abanda and Suhail Al Shaikh presented the attending clients with all details pertaining to public and private Customs warehouses, rules of registration and so on. Yahya bin Sahim delivered a presentation to employees on the Early Inquiry Room at Cargo Village. Mohammad bin Qadhaib and Thikrayat Al Mansoori moderated a workshop on the procedures of the Cargo Village Customs center for the attending clients.

Airport Events

Passenger Operations Department at Dubai Customs had set up an information kiosk at DXB Terminals 1 and 2, highlighting Dubai Customs role, innovations, projects and for sharing information of interest to passengers. They also presented gifts to kids representing “Jamrook and Jamrookah, the famous  figurines  of customs inspectors.

DC Center at Airport terminal 2 arranged a Worksop on ‘leadership in creating value towards excellence – the Eros way’. Dubai police, Dnata, and fly Dubai representatives attended the workshop along with a crowd of Dubai Customs inspectors.

“Leave a positive imprint’ Initiative

Senior Manager of Creek Customs Center and Coastal Berth , Ahmed Al Delail, launched the initiative under the theme of  ‘leave a positive imprint’ organized by the Management covering  all its affiliated customs centers. Customs officials at the Creek Operation also  delivered a presentation in both Arabic and Farsi pertaining to Customs procedures.

Dubai Maritime Authority lecturers also made a presentation on safety and security in both English and Arabic, highlighting safety measures and equipment needed in boats, recreational yachts and floating restaurants .

Fishing Harbour

The Administrative Affairs Department at Dubai Customs also took part in this grand week, presenting a lecture at Um Suqeim 1 Fishing Harbour. Concerned Fishermen attended the lecture moderated by Juma Al Suwaidi who briefed them on Dubai Customs in general and the inspection part in particular.

Best Working Place

Clients Management Department organized a lecture in cooperation with DHL under the title ‘ Dubai, the Best Place to Work In’. The lecture was held at DC Training Center. In addition, Land Customs Centers management in Ducamz and Dry Port organized and introductory workshop on the GCC Customs Union and fees transfer procedure.

Dubai Customs senior management made sure that ‘Dubai Customs 1st Week’ adopt a two-way approach to the great benefit of all concerned stakeholders. This method was circulated amongst all customs centers ensuring the optimal and transparent streamlining of information to clients and employees alike, ensuring the maximum reachability for Dubai Customs efforts and initiatives.
