Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs (DC), has honored the winners of the newly launched ‘Best Media Communication Award for Departments and Divisions’ for the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2016, during an awarding ceremony organized by DC’ Corporate Communication Department at Al Furdah Hall in DC head office.

The DC Director hailed the crucial role played by the media in communicating the mission of Dubai Customs and its pivotal role towards facilitating legitimate trade and protecting society, not only locally but also on the global scale. He pointed out that the World Customs Organization has published an unprecedented 5-page feature on Dubai Customs’ experience in the last issue of renowned WCO News magazine.

“The report enumerated Dubai Customs’ world-class achievements in its journey towards a ‘Customs of the future’, which makes us extremely proud especially that the WCO has over 180 member states, representing 98 percent of world trade. This further promotes the image of Dubai particularly and the UAE in general on the international arena.”

Ahmed Mahboob encouraged all DC departments and divisions to continue building constructive relationships and regular communication bonds with various  media outlets in such way that raises public awareness of their activities and accomplishments.

Congratulating the winners of the media communication award which was launched internally two years ago, the Director of Dubai Customs affirmed that the purpose of this award is to reward those divisions and departments that regularly contribute to enhancing and upholding the reputation of Dubai Customs as well as the image of Dubai and the UAE.

Ahmed Mahboob also commended the effective role served by the Corporate Communication Department in highlighting the vision and mission of Dubai Customs and supporting its aspirations to become a global leader in Customs work.

On the criteria adopted in evaluating entries for the award, Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department, said: “The nominees for the award are evaluated based on the number of media requests received from each department/division, the concerned department’s availability and cooperation when information is required, media visibility in a variety of television and radio mediums, as well as the diversity of departmental participations within each division, and the international exposure of media items.”
