Dubai Customs boosts its government partnership efforts in Q1 of 2014

Due to the wise vision and leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai., Dubai Customs is keen to support and strengthen ties and relations with strategic government partners in order to continuously develop relationships and exchange expertise across government organizations to enhance competitiveness regionally and internationally.

 “With globalization on the rise, governments must work on building partnerships between government entities to enhance the competitiveness of the country and the overall efficiency of its services,” said Mr. Khalil Saqer, Director of Corporate Communication Department, Dubai Customs.

He added: “We at Dubai Customs are proud to have worked efficiently with several government organizations over the years to enhance our relations as well as exchange knowledge which aids in improving our line of work as well as provide optimal services across all government sectors.”

Mr. Khalil further maintained that “Setting criteria and cross checking them across government organizations is an efficient and practical way of checking their validity. We at Dubai Customs joins hands with numerous government bodies in order to give and have the opportunity to enhance our standards, provide the best quality of services, and cross check our set criteria with our strategic partners for further improvement.”

In fulfilment of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Customs assures establishing and maintaining partnerships across government organizations. The 2014 strategic partners are Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Economy Ministry of Environment and Water, Ministry of Health, Dubai Police, Road and Transport Authority, DP World, Dubai Smart Government, Dubai Chamber, Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Airports, Dubai Airport Freezone, National Media Council, Emirates Sky Cargo, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Department, Federal Customs Authority, Dnata, Emirates Post Group, JAFZA, Dubai Executive Council, and Dubai Trade.

Over the course of the first quarter, Dubai Customs held five different executive  meetings with several government agencies such as the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Health, Dubai Airports, Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and Free Zone Authority for Information Technology,  in order to strengthen and enhance placed procedures and increase the competitive advantage of the UAE as a whole.

This year Dubai Customs was honored for its distinguished performance and remarkable efforts. Numerous prestigious awards and  decorations were received in the first quarter, including the Farouk El-Baz Award for Excellence in Organizational Sustainability for the Public Sector category for the second time, and a decoration from H.H Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ajman Crown Prince for taking part in the Ajman Career Fair 2014, in addition to  an honorary plaque at the Fifth Forum for Suppliers, Contractors and Service Providers.

Furthermore, several activities and initiatives were accomplished in the first quarter of 2014, such as the exchange of expertise and intelligence with Dubai Police, and DC’s active participation in “Earth Hour” event held by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority; besides a number of awareness campaigns that targeted fishermen in the UAE, in close cooperation and coordination with Emirates Environment Group.

To guarantee the competitiveness of economic knowledge across government organizations, Dubai Customs ran during the first quarter an internal and external comparison of criteria  across several government entities. The ultimate goal is to come up with best practices and outcomes and integrate them in the overall structure of Dubai Customs and its array of services.
