Dubai Customs launches the first workshop of its kind in the region on diesel derivatives measurement
The Customs Training Centre at Dubai Customs introduced the first workshop of its kind in the region on diesel derivatives measurement.
The diesel derivatives workshop includes theoretical and practical training for developing inspectors` skills in respect to derivatives inspection and how to deal with this substance, in addition to the other workable skills in handling different modes of tankers as well as those relating to the engineering measurement of the stored quantities of liquids.
During the workshop, the participants will be equipped with a set of scientific and practical concepts on how to deal with diesel together with improving tankers inspection skills that contain smuggled substances.
Further, trainees will be acquainted at the workshop with security requirements and safety equipment that are required to be available on-board of commercial vessels in order to avoid negative impacts that may arise out as result of diesel importation under the lack of knowledge, control parameters and other environment disasters.
The workshop, which is facilitated by Mubarak Al Suwaidi, the Training Specialist at Dubai Customs, aims at introducing inspectors to all details relating to diesel and the protective requirements for the safety of the customs inspector on board of vessels prior to inspecting the derivatives including security requirements that are needed to be available in derivatives transporters.
The workshop aims as well to enable the customs inspector to be aware of stored liquids measurements through engineering measures, to be acquainted with spaces unit measurement (cubic meter, barrel, gallon and litre), to measure the vacuity and air pressure inside tankers, and to be trained on how to separate diesel from other liquids(water) so as to avoid negative aspects resulting from lack of knowledge and awareness about diesel from one hand and to prevent fraudulence, misleading, deceiving and duty evasion.
“The workshop on diesel derivatives measurement that was introduced and developed at Dubai Customs Training Centre, has led to positive results and solutions at environment and trade levels,” said Ms. Feryal Tawakul, Director of Dubai Customs Training Centre.
“Dubai Customs Training Centre is keen to conduct tests before and after workshops and training courses in order to measure the achieved results,” Ms. Feryal affirmed.
“This workshop is a part of the Customs Training Centre annual planner targeting inspectors operating at sea and land ports alike,” she pointed out.
Worth mentioning, Columbus Report 2102 issued by World Customs Organization (WCO) praised Dubai Customs as an integrated business system and recommended the circulation of the diesel derivatives training workshop that was introduced by Dubai Customs Training Centre among GCC States which reflects the significance of this workshop and the extent of benefit that the workshop may contribute to achieving it in the region.
