The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured 12 major organisations for their efforts to lead by example in corporate social responsibility and sustainability during a recognition ceremony held at its premises on Monday.

The Dubai Chamber CSR Label were presented for the first time to Al Futtiam Carillion, Amana Contracting and Steel Building, CHEP, Dry Docks World, ENOC and Unilever while Six Construct, Al Rostamani Pegel, Chalhoub Group and Emicool  got it for the second time and Axiom Telecom  and Alpen Capital received it for the third time.

In his welcome address during the presentation ceremony, H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman, Dubai Chamber, congratulated the honourees stating that these companies are leading the field in CSR and sustainability while helping to spread awareness about the importance of having clear CSR goals and how to best achieve them.

“Dubai’s business community has matured in regards to CSR and sustainability since the Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) was launched in 2004. Over the past decade, the Centre has launched many key initiatives including the CSR Label which have helped to lead and promote CSR in Dubai and have had an incredible response from our members,’’ said H.E. Al Shirawi.

However there are always new trends and techniques coming from across the world that can be applied today. The CRB is here to help businesses integrate these new methods into their strategies and get rewarded. The CSR Label is our way of engaging with our stakeholders and encouraging excellence across the business community, he added.

The honourees lauded the role of Dubai Chamber in allowing them a framework to define and improve their corporate social responsibility performance as well as the opportunity to promote their activities, and to enhance their reputation as leaders in achieving sustainability.

The CSR Label is open to all organisations, private or public, regardless of their size, sector or operations and can make a major difference to a company’s reputation, efficiency and productivity and its success depends on how the CSR objectives are set and communicated to all of their stakeholders.
