Dubai Chamber finalises its preparations for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has finalised its preparation for hosting the 7th Cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday, 13th November at Madinat Jumeirah.
After the selection of the winners’ list by the panel of judges, the Chamber is all set to host the annual high-profile award presentation ceremony which will be attended by heads of Government departments, dignitaries, Board members of Dubai Chamber, representatives of business councils, groups and trade centers, a large number of businessmen and members of local media.
The panel of judges, chaired by H.E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, included H.E. Mohamed Thani Murshid Al Romaithi, President of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Director General, Government of Dubai, Media Office, Mr. Khoo Boon Hui, Senior Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore and Deputy Chairman - Singapore Quality Award Governing Council, H.E. Mari Amano, Secretary-General, Asian Productivity Organization, Japan, and Dr. Harry Hertz, Director Emeritus, Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, USA.
The judging panel met late on Sunday to select the winners of the award which is based on the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Performance Program developed by Dubai Chamber.
H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO of Dubai Chamber and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Award, presented the names of the shortlisted companies to the panel of international and local judges who chose the winners from among the companies that have committed themselves to the conditions and criteria of the award.
As part of its commitment to provide continuous momentum for businesses to embrace excellence and sustainable business practices, Dubai Chamber organised the Closing Conference for the 7th Cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award at its head office on Monday under the title, “Fostering Excellence; The Never Ending Journey.”
In his keynote address, H.E. Buamim spoke on the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award, Elevating Excellence, innovation and sustainability in the UAE, while Dr. Harry Hertz, Director Emeritus, Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, USA, talked about the challenge of being outstanding.
On his part, Mr. Khoo Boon Hui, Senior Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore and Deputy Chairman - Singapore Quality Award Governing Council, spoke on Organisational Excellence Journey, a Singapore example while Mr. Shubhojit Mahalanobis, Head of Retail, Danube Buildmart, Danube Group, gave a presentation on Building Customer Loyalty, the importance of best practices in the development of relations with customers. Dr. Belaid Rettab, Senior Director, Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development Sector, Dubai Chamber, coordinated a question and answer session between the attendees and the panel of speakers.
Celebrating the successful conclusion of the 7th Cycle, the conference provided a learning gateway for the business community and a platform to share their experiences in achieving exceptional organizational performance while inspiring local and international business leaders to adopt progressive world-class business practices throughout their establishments.
The prestigious Award, which is a Dubai Chamber initiative, is organised annually under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and has won for Dubai Chamber the Dubai Government Excellence Program Best Administrative Project Award for 2007. On its part, the Award honours institutional performance and helps create a competitive business environment in the country.
