The leading telecom company du, celebrated the 3rd Emirati Women’s Day with a special event that honoured the incredible achievements of the nation’s women and the inspiring role that they have played in the development and advancement of the UAE. Guest speakers at the event held at the du offices Auditorium on August 27, included pioneering Emirati women - Abeer Al Khaja, Amal Murad, Sara Al Madani and special guest Luma Bourisl, in the presence of Farid Faraidooni, Chief operations Officer, du and the attendees celebrated how “Women are partners in giving”, and the support women’s roles play in the community welfare and their successes in the Year of Giving.

“At du, we recognize the vital role that Emirati women play in the nation’s development and its prosperity, so we are very proud to have been able to host such a great event that celebrates Emirati women and their achievements. We place women’s empowerment at the core of our corporate sustainability vision and offer Emirati women a number of support programs to grow their career at du. “Women are partners in giving” and we are proud to support our nation’s future female leaders,” said Faraidooni. “The UAE has witnessed continuous attention to and the advancement of the role of women in the UAE. This advancement has been highlighted by key women in our communities who are paving the way for others to not only dream big but to achieve those dreams.”

The du Emirati Women’s Day event hosted a “Circle of Talks”, which included interactive and inspirational sessions led by media personality Atheer Bin Shaker with Emirati guest speakers - Cross Fit Trainer, Abeer Al Khaja, graphic designer and first Emirati female parkour coach at Gravity Gym, Amal Murad, fashion designer and board member of UAE’s SME council, Sara Al Madani, and Kuwaiti business woman, Luma Bourisly. In addition, a milestone wall was displayed in the du auditorium and took guests on a journey to discover the rise of Emirati women from the 1940s until today. A culinary experience was also brought to guests by the Emirati business Mama Tani, Despresso Café and Nostalgia Café.

du has mirrored its commitments towards enhancing women empowerment within the community, and its ardent supporters and creators of programmes that advance women’s development and economic opportunities. Currently, 474 of the organization’s permanent employees are women, which represent 30% of du’s entire workforce. du believes women in leadership are an inspiration to the entire company and nurture differently to a male leader. The UAE is on a path to ensure all women have a place in the workplace and Emirati women have been provided with excellent schooling and educational opportunities in the UAE, which has equipped them to pursue the careers that they choose.
