GCC municipal team pays tribute to the UAE experience in this field
The team specialized in the preparation of the common strategy for municipal work in the GCC appraised the progress achieved by the UAE in the field of municipal work, and emphasized on the importance of benefiting from the UAE experience in developing the GCC municipal work.
This came during a meeting took place recently at the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh. The UAE was represented at this meeting, by Mr. Tahnoon Al muhairbi specialist in performance management and strategic planning in the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), and Mr. Abdullah Al Marzouqi specialist municipal risk management and strategic planning at the DMA. After looking into the UAE experience in the municipal field, the meeting re-affirmed the importance of presenting the UAE experiment and progress achieved in this area to the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and to discuss this experience further in the next meeting of the team, which will enable to exchange information and experiences between Member States in the municipal work.
This meeting comes within the efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council to enhance integration in different areas among members countries, and also comes in implementation of the decision taken by the Municipal Affairs Ministers at their last meeting in Abu Dhabi to support Gulf efforts aimed at promoting integration among Member States in various fields, and establish a common strategy in the area of municipal work which will enable to improve quality standards and professionalism in this area and the development of municipal services provided to members of the community in these countries.
It is worth noting that the GCC is currently working to develop a common strategy for municipal work by 2015, and work is under way on the stage of development of strategic indicators to determine the current status of those common goals, and then drop the standard strategies for municipal work to operational levels for each Member State by the specialized team.
GCC aims to enhance coherence and complementarity in municipal work among Member States in order to contribute to the development of municipal-level mechanisms and strengthen Gulf common interests by improving the standard of living of the population and provide the best and finest municipal services to members of the community.
