DEWA participates in Dubai Government Excellence Program seminars
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has taken part in a series of seminars organised by the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP), as part of its strategy to share its experience and knowledge and enhance cooperation with various government organisations to achieve the vision of Dubai. The seminars aim to raise awareness about general operations, and promote concepts and applications of excellence, creativity, quality, and transfer of knowledge across all areas of government work, and to share best management practices of development, organisational excellence, and human resources management.
DEWA participates in the seminars in order to exchange expertise and experiences to enhance its eServices and Smart Services, in line with Dubai Government’s strategy.
DEWA came first in the Dubai Smart Government’s review of the ‘Dubai Government Entities’ websites for 2012-2013.’ This has enabled DEWA to lead the way in simplifying its transactions and making services more accessible.
Marwan Bin Haider, Vice President of IT and CIO of DEWA, presented on the role of IT in enhancing corporate performance, the modern technologies used in its development, and the role of IT in simplifying procedures to enhance government services. The team presented successful examples of Information Technology’s role in enhancing DEWA’s eServices and Smart Services, building on DEWA’s mission to become a sustainable world-class utility.
“The primary goal of relying on eServices and Smart Services in DEWA, is to enhance the use of modern communications channels. By providing our team and customers with interactive platforms, we at DEWA are further promoting the use of electronic services and smart solutions, given the importance of innovation in competitiveness. DEWA is a keen supporter and implementer of evolving technology that will help improve the services we provide to our customers,” said Bin Haider.
The seminars witnessed strong participation from the heads of IT departments, and staff representing various government organisations in Dubai.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was formed on 1 January, 1992, by a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum to take over and merge the Dubai Electric Company and the Dubai Water Department that had been operating independently for several years until then.
