The Department of Municipal Affairs enhances cooperation with the Emirates Society for Animal Welfare

The Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Emirates Society for Animal Welfare, in a move aimed at develop cooperation between the two sides in the field of animal welfare and promote public awareness of the importance of respecting animals and their rights, and the preservation of public health and safety of the environment in which we live.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Al Shareef the Under Secretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs and H.E. Nasser Salem Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi the Chairman  of the Emirates Society for Animal Welfare. 

The MoU will form the foundations and principles that would contribute to enhancing cooperation between the municipal system and the Emirates Society for Animal Welfare and will support animal rights and species protection. The memo will also support the efforts of both entities to maintain a good standard of public health especially that the health and safety of animals contributes to the health and safety of the community. 

Commenting on the signing of the memorandum, H.E. Engineer Ahmed Mohammed Al-Shareef, the Undersecretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs said that the sense of compassion for animals is a moral duty especially since animals are creatures created by almighty God in addition to human beings and other creatures in this world, adding that the respect for animals rights is a sign of civilization in any society. 

For his part, H.E. Nasser Salem Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi the Chairman  of the Emirates Society for Animal Welfare said that this agreement is to strengthen the objectives of the society's efforts to protect the animal rights and endangered animals and to maintain them and to provide assistance to the owners of animals under the supervision of competent professionals in this field. Also this MoU will enhance cooperation among strategic partners to enhance public health and environment. 

The society also aims to raise public awareness of the importance of the animal and its role in maintaining the ecological balance, which ensures the continuity of life on Earth and organizing caravans therapeutic; to provide treatment for animals, and in coordination with the associations and specialized health centers in the country.
