The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (DED-Ajman) recently launched the ‘My Experience’ initiative at the Ajman's Elder Care Home, to celebrate the Year of Zayed. During the event, both the young and the elderly shared their dreams, personal experiences, and views on how the noble values espoused by the country’s founding father could be instilled in the future generations to help make the UAE one of the world's most advanced nations.

The new initiative was part of DED-Ajman’s commemoration of the centennial birth anniversary of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in a bid to promote his legacy, contributions to the country and the entire humanity, and achievements to put the UAE on the world map. The recent gathering specifically urged the young people in the country to draw inspiration from the vision and wisdom of Sheikh Zayed, who led the formation of a strong union driven by the values of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence.

Part of the ‘My Experience’ initiative was a jogging activity for the elderly and employees of Ajman Elder Care Home in conjunction with the UAE National Sports Day. DED-Ajman had previously announced the launch of several initiatives for the Year of Zayed celebration. These include social media campaigns and a book distribution titled ‘The Two Heroes Commanders,’ which tackles the lives and economic achievements of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

The boom of Ajman’s now well established and highly competitive economy began with the Department of Economic Development (DED), a division of the Municipality and Planning Department, before it became an independent local authority in 2011. During that year, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler of the Emirate of Ajman and a Member of the UAE Supreme Council, issued Emiri Decree No. (1) on the reorganization of the DED in Ajman to achieve the emirate’s sustainable economic development as well as create a fair investment landscape and consumer environment to attract national and foreign investments. The reorganization also sought to provide adequate information and data on the economic activities and investment opportunities in the emirate.
