Culinary enthusiasts battle it out at the LG Home Chef Championship 2016

Unlike most culinary competitions where professional chefs compete against each other, the LG Home Chef Championship (HCC) 2016 is a unique cooking competition specifically for non-professional food enthusiasts.

After the intense culinary face-off championship that took place yesterday, the official LG Home Chef Champion of 2016 is UAE resident Navita Hakim. Held at the International Centre for Culinary Arts in Dubai, the LG Home Chef Championship 2016 allowed 10 passionate home cooks to demonstrate their culinary talent and compete for a chance to become the LG Home Chef Champion 2016 and win an elegant and innovative LG grand prize for the home.

The championship judge was Chef Daniel Hiltbrunner of the International Centre for Culinary Arts in Dubai. Chef Hiltbrunner is a world-renowned chef, certified by Master Chef, and he is a member of the Emirates Culinary Guild, the prestigious Academy Culinaire de France and La Chaine des Rotisseurs (CDR) with extensive judging experience as a jury member for CDR’s annual international young chef Championship.

The UAE’s LG Home Chef Champion of 2016 took home an elegant LG Gas Cooker, which offers passionate home chefs many unique features including excellent performance that allows not only speed cooking but also even cooking. While taste and presentation were the most important factors in assessing the meals prepared by contestants, the judge also looked at how nutritionally balanced and waste-efficient the dishes were. They took into account how creative the recipes were, in addition to how well they reflected the stories of the contestants. The strict competition regulations also required the teams to maintain the highest of sanitary food-preparation standards and complete their dishes within the allotted time.

I am very happy that I have won because I truly put in all my effort and love into what I prepared, which is what makes dishes at home so good, and I thank LG for allowing me to showcase my cooking skills and passion through this competition,” said Navita Hakim, winner of the UAE’s LG Home Chef Championship 2016.

The LG Home Chef Championship is an initiative across multiple LG subsidiary countries in the Middle East and Africa region. In addition to UAE, the regional Home Chef Championship 2016 was rolled out in countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Levant.
