City Centre Rotana Doha Participates in the Second Edition of Qatar Sustainability Week

In line with the Rotana Earth program, Rotana’s Global Corporate Sustainability Platform, City Centre Rotana Doha (CCRD) participated in the second edition of Qatar Sustainability Week held from 28 October – 4 November 2017.
The initiative by Qatar Green Building Council was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani. It plays a crucial role in raising awareness among the wider community, while showcasing the progress Qatar has made in the areas of sustainability and green buildings.
Rotana's comprehensive waste management systems benefit the hotels by decreasing waste and reducing the cost of waste disposal. During the Sustainability Week, CCRD was committed to saving the environment by implementing the 3Rs. First “ reduce” to decrease waste by having no bins in colleagues' cafeteria, “Reuse” by using wood waste to make bread & beverage baskets and “Recycle” by segregation of bins in the front as well as backyards of houses to collect waste.
Another unique initiative was showcased at the Green Corner at Olive Oil- the all-day dining restaurant at City Centre Rotana Doha. Here, guests treated themselves to food that were uncooked and unprocessed.
Speaking on the occasion Sena Catak, Director of Marketing and Communications at City Centre Rotana Doha said: "At Rotana, we have long believed in continuously improving on our services and offerings, making it worthwhile for guests, colleagues, partners and stakeholders. Afterall, the success of any initiative lies in the health and prosperity of the communities in which we do business."
"We have designed our recycling programmes to make a difference that lasts for generations by diverting valuable materials and resources from landfills such as plastic, glass, paper, cardboards, metal, oil, electronic waste, and some construction and renovation debris. In addition to recycling, we are targeting to incorporate composting for food and plant waste," she added.
Qatar Sustainability Week serves as a unique platform to promote Qatar's sustainability vision as well as showcase the efforts of Qatar’s public and private sectors, providing the support, coordination and expert advice needed to unite under an overarching umbrella to achieve the nation’s sustainable development goals.
