Bank Nizwa Receives 'Pioneer Islamic Bank in Oman' Award for 2017
Bank Nizwa was honored with the ‘Pioneer Islamic Bank in Oman’ award by the World Union of Arab Bankers during the 2017 Innovation & Excellence Awards for Financial Institutions & Entrepreneurship. Organized in Jordan’s capital Amman, the landmark event was attended by a number of high profile individuals and representatives from international and regional leading financial institutions.
The bank’s product portfolio and exceptional growth over the past year were key factors in winning the accolade. Bank Nizwa’s Shari’a-compliant offerings ranging from personal to corporate banking have continued to exceed the expectations of customers delivering efficiency, accessibility and convenience.

The formation of Bank Nizwa came about with the Central Bank of Oman granting its initial approval to the licensing of the Bank to Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Khalili. Sheikh Saud and a further 92 other Omani individuals, companies and pension funds constitute the founder shareholders of the Bank.
Bank Nizwa is Oman’s first dedicated Islamic bank, with fully Shari’a compliant products and services.
