As part of Arab Bank’s sustainability program, “Together”, the Bank has recently signed an agreement with Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans to sponsor one year vocational training of 50 orphans.

This program provides orphans the opportunity to receive practical training to build their skills and abilities before entering the workforce, and assists them in opening the doors to create jobs through acquired professions and skills. The training also promotes self-reliance so that the orphans can be empowered to seek a steady source of income and become productive members in society and their local economy. In addition to Arab Bank’s continuous support for Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans, this comes as part of the Bank’s efforts in alleviating poverty and creating jobs opportunities through empowering the local community.

Ms. Dina Shoman, Executive Vice President of Branding at Arab Bank commented, “Orphans over the age of 18 may face obstacles when entering the work force in terms of having received appropriate training and education; the current infrastructure in place does not always ensure they will be ready to go out into the market.” Ms. Shoman further added, “Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans plays a vital role in facilitating programs and initiatives for young adults who do not have many opportunities afforded to them; these programs can give them the training they need to become self-reliant and active members in a more sustainable labor market.”

Mrs. Maha Al Saqqa Executive Director of Al Aman Fund commented, “This support by Arab Bank is a big step forward towards realizing the fund’s objective for 2011, which is to reach the largest number of orphans in the Kingdom who are seeking to continue their vocational education and achieve their full potential as active pillars of their community.”

Ms. Shoman concluded by saying, “Supporting orphans around the Kingdom is an important duty for all Jordanians as constantly stressed by their Majesties King Abdullah the Second and Queen Rania Al Abdullah; Arab Bank’s support of such training only reaffirms our belief that empowerment is the key to future development.”

Arab Bank customers can support Al Aman Fund in addition to the other Together non- profit organizations through ATMs, Arabi Online (internet banking), Hala Arabi (telephone banking), branches and the Together Visa Platinum Credit Card.
