AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation Empowers Ithra Participants onto the Global Stage
AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF) announced its sponsorship of a group of Ithra enrichment program participants to attend the Summer School at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Harvard Youth Lead the Change program, hosted in Bahrain for the first time. The initiative was further supported through partial sponsorship from UniHawk Bahrain, a leading educational consultancy.
The initiative reflects MKF’s steadfast commitment to empowering Bahraini youth by providing opportunities for cultural and professional exchange on an international level. It also aligns with the Foundation’s vision of cultivating a generation capable of thriving in an increasingly competitive international landscape.
As part of this initiative, MKF sponsored the participation of Abdul Rahman Al-Bay and Hamid Al-Khadeer, who were accompanied by their mentor, Mr. Abdullah Al-Khadeir, to the NUS Summer School. They represented the only Arab team from the Middle East among 70 international participants.
The academic program featured interactive lectures, research activities, and cultural exchanges with peers from around the world. Participants also engaged in specialized workshops delivered by leading professors, covering cutting-edge disciplines such as artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, electrical and electronic engineering, and modern media.
On the local front, Bahrain proudly hosted the Harvard Youth Lead the Change program for the first time. Representing MKF’s Ithra program were Sundas Obaid, Lulwa Showaiter, Abdul Aziz Salis, and Abdullah Al-Rumaihi. Together, they explored innovative solutions to pressing social and economic challenges, while presenting leadership projects that embodied the ambition of Bahraini youth to drive positive change.
Each participant was presented with the “Best Speaker” award, along with certificates of participation and letters of recommendation from Harvard-accredited faculty. Their projects emphasized practical innovation, problem-solving, and leadership within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Commenting on the occasion, H.H. Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at MKF, stated: “Nurturing the potential of youth is the most rewarding and impactful investment we can make. Our journey toward global recognition is yet another step in our ongoing mission to empower young Bahrainis, and we are dedicated to equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to chart their future with clarity and confidence. The success of Ithra’s participants in international programs and global conferences underscores the trust our international partners place in our youth and motivates us to continue opening new horizons of creativity and leadership for the next generation.”
MKF takes pride in providing transformative opportunities that allow young minds to explore their talents and build a promising future filled with excellence and ingenuity. These international engagements serve as an extension of the Ithra program’s core pillars, which focus on life skills such as self-reliance and cross-cultural exchange, while offering pathways for both academic and professional development.
