Al Rayyan Pediatric Emergency Center goes live with new Clinical Information System (CIS)

The Clinical Information System (CIS) is going live at the Al Rayyan Pediatric Emergency Center (PEC), part of Hamad Medical Corporation, on Sunday 5 June, 2016. The Center will replace their existing paper patient clinical records system with a new electronic Clinical Information System (CIS). This is part of a planned roll out across Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC). Once the CIS implementation is complete, all patient records will be stored and accessed electronically across the two organizations.

This roll-out follows the successful CIS implementation in eight HMC hospitals, Al Sadd Pediatric Emergency Center and other satellite PECs, dialysis centers, the Bone and Joint Center and a number of PHCC Health Centers across the country.

The Clinical Information System (CIS) is a comprehensive system-wide implementation that has been designed in collaboration with clinicians. As this is such a large project, we expect that there will be a period of transition, during which, staff and patients will adjust to the new system. Staff will need to gather more information from patients in order to register them in the new system and this may mean that appointments take a little longer than usual.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR AL SADD PEC PATIENTS

1. For all non-urgent cases, please visit health centers for care. We anticipate some delay during the implementation of the electronic application system. Therefore, we kindly ask patients and families to visit primary health care centers for simple complaints, to avoid congestion in the Al Rayyan Pediatric Emergency Center (PEC).
2. Please ensure you bring a valid patient health card to ensure quick, smooth and delay free registration.
3. During this time of transition and change, we would like to ask visitors, patients and families for their utmost cooperation with the medical staff at Al Rayyan PEC. This will very helpful in enabling patient flow to be managed effectively. 

The importance of an electronic medical records system was set out in the National Health Strategy for Qatar, launched in 2011. To address this new national strategy, HMC and PHCC launched the CIS program in 2012, which is one of the most ambitious and important programs for the organizations’ future.
