Abu Dhabi Municipality Conducts Inspection Campaign on Residential Buildings in Shahama

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has launched an awareness and inspection campaign to protect the environment and combat many negative phenomena distorting the general appearance of the city. In this context, the municipal inspectors combed many residential buildings in Shahama area to spot thronging bachelors’ accommodation, and verify the maintenance of fire extinguishers at building entrances, as well as regular maintenance of buildings and lighting. The inspectors were also entrusted to assess the cleanliness of corridors & stairs, and ensure that a janitor is available in each building to carry out cleaning services.

This campaign, which aims to fight such phenomena which pose great danger and public nuisance, comes as part of the Municipality’s vision to establish the highest standards of safety & security to all and ensure a sustainable environment for the residents of Abu Dhabi. The Municipality, in cooperation with its strategic partners, strives to safeguard the modern, civilized appearance in order to enhance the integrated living environment that the Municipality seeks to provide to the population. This echoes the urban development witnessed by Abu Dhabi City in many areas, as evidenced by the number one ranking worldwide taken by Abu Dhabi in several fields.

Regarding the negative phenomena, the Municipality indicated that the phenomenon of satellite dishes mushrooming in a haphazard manner on rooftops and balconies was still rampant, which constitutes a major eyesore that distorts the civilized appearance of the city. The public are urged to comply with the installation of 1-4 satellite dishes connected to a central antenna system on rooftops and combine efforts to instill the positive environmental values and promote societal responsibility towards maintaining the civilized appearance of Abu Dhabi. This warrants eliminating all types of ugly and offensive scenes marring the overall appearance, which requires concerted efforts.
