Abu Dhabi City Municipality Organizes 'Weekend Market' in Bahya
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, in cooperation with Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Works, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Department, local business leaders, Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, will organise a charity community market called ‘Weekend Market’. The market, which will be held at Bahya City Park, is part of the community charity market project for areas off Abu Dhabi Island.
This market, which targets the local community and residents of Bahya, Shahama, Rahba, Samha and Shaliliya areas, will be held on 16, 17, 23 and 24 November 2017.
The initiative reflects the keenness of the Urban Planning and Municipalities Department to materialise the values of the humanitarian and charitable initiative of the ‘Year of Giving’ launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
The initiative also reiterated the Municipality’s commitment to enhancing the values of social responsibility, support community segments, and utilising the Municipality's facilities & assets for serving the community and bringing them happiness. Such events bolster social ties and provide a suitable environment for marketing the products of Emirati families in an environment characterized by diverse recreational events.
The initiative aims to increase the number of visitors to communal facilities in order to support productive families and provide a suitable place where they can market and sell their products. The initiative is also intended to motivate youth, entrepreneurs, productive & abstinent families, besides promoting volunteering values, educating community members and bringing them happiness. The initiative would also create diverse income sources through retail trade, especially local handicrafts, and provide a safe, entertaining atmosphere for family members.
Through this market, the Municipality is keen to involve the local community in communal, educational and recreational activities accompanying the market. The Municipality’s partners will also offer scores of other activities & programs such as medical checkups and children's games besides introducing the Bahya Park Library in coordination with the Tourism and Culture Department.
It is noteworthy that the market will include outlets selling a variety of traditional and modern foods, organic and healthy products, drawing events, a playing area, shirts painting, flower shops, perfumes & incense shops, specialised & handicrafts workshops and a pet shop.
