Iran could earn about $2 billion 2005 from the export of engineering and technological services to the oil industry, over the course of its third five-year economic plan, which will run through March 2005, Seyed Mahmoud Emamzadeh, managing director of National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Co. (NIOC) told Iran News.

This would be an eight-fold increase from the amount Iran has earned from the export of such services over the past four years.

Within Iran, NIOE is involved in the upgrading and expansion of refineries, laying oil pipelines and constructing oil storage facilities.

Regarding projects outside of Iran, NIOE has been involved in gas pipeline project between Turkmenistan and Iran, including the design and construction of dehumidification installations, which already have completed. NIOE has also been assigned the dehumidification and dew point installations at the Korbacheh site by the Turkmen Oil and Gas Company.

In 1998, NIOE signed a contract for the design and construction of a gasoline production unit at the Turkmenbashi Gas Refinery with the Turkmen Oil and Gas Company. That project is more than half complete, Emamzadeh said.

NIOE is also involved in the transfer of crude oil from the states around the Caspian which is a project being implemented through a SWAP agreement. Emamzadeh said that regional crude oil will be transferred to the southern Iranian ports, and the project includes both the transportation of and the processing of the crude.

Emamzadeh also reported that NIOE’s operation to construct an oil terminal with a capacity of 120,000 barrels in Neka coast will soon begin. The capacity of the terminal will be increased to 370,000 after implementation of the second phase of the project, said.

NIOE is responsible for granting the projects of the National Iranian Oil Derivatives Refining and Distribution Co. and National Iranian Oil Company. It is involved in 34 major plans, which include 110 projects and 375 sub projects, valued at 3 trillion rials. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
