The Riyadh Specialized Medical Hospital is planning to build a new medical facility, adjacent to the existing one. This project will cost a total of SR 200 million. The aim of this project is to increase the bed capacity of the center, as well as double the capacity of its consulting service clinics.

In an August 27th article appearing in Al-Riyadh newspaper, the center’s director general, Saleh Bin Mohammed Al-Qanbaz was quoted, saying that the new hospital will contain 200 beds.

According to the most recent figures available, published by the Saudi Press Agency last year, by the end of the 1996/7 fiscal year, the number of governmental and private hospitals in the kingdom had reached 305, with a capacity of 44,533 beds.
