New Egyptian freeway project planned

Egypt is currently planning the construction of new freeway systems throughout Egypt reported Al-Ahram. The overall cost for the project will be EP 22 billion and it will be based on the BOT (build, operate and transfer) system.  

 

The Egyptian minister of transportation, Ibrahim Al-Dameiry, has said that a tender for the Giza-Alexandria-Matrouth road will be published in the near future. This tender, valued at EP 500 million, will be to develop the 600 km stretch of road into a freeway, and thiis project is expected to take two years. 

 

The new freeway system will include access roads, service facilities, stores and relief centers along the various routes. Egypt already boasts a sophisticated highway and paved road system, stretching more 41,300 km in length. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
