Leading food and beverage company Nestlé is celebrating its 70th anniversary in the Middle East and thanked its partners and loyal consumers across the region for achieving the milestone.

Nestlé began their association with the Middle East way back in 1934 when it first began exporting products to the region from its headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland. In the Middle East alone, the company commands a big slice of the regional market. Demonstrating its commitment to the Middle East, Nestlé opened its first permanent office in the region, in Beirut in 1936, under the Nestlé World Trade Corporation.

To further consolidate its partnership with the Arab world, the company ensured that all its packaging was arabized in 1964, well before it became mandatory to do so in the region.

In 1997, Nestlé consolidated its operations in the region with the creation of one single market, covering 13 countries, and inaugurated a new headquarters in Jebel Ali free zone, in Dubai, in October 2001, with the purpose of further extending its involvement with local partners and consumers, including research and development of products, specially formulated to meet the needs of local consumers.

As part of its regional expansion strategy, Nestlé recently opened its latest manufacturing operations in Iran and has plans to expand further in the near future.

With annual sales of over $50 billion, Nestlé invests $700 million annually in research and development. The company brings to local consumers more than 50 popular brands in the nutrition, milks, confectionery, coffee, beverage creamers, culinary, water and cereal categories. — (menareport.com)
